Tucker Loves the Holidays

“Your favorite holiday must be Easter!”
Is what they all say to me
I may be a bunny
But Christmas is my hunny
The white Christmas lights
Shine so bright
I often get in trouble when I nibble on the tree
I look at my owner and say “how can you be mad at me?”
She gives me presents on Christmas day
My favorite one being hay
I get to hop in the fluffy white snow
While my owners smile glows

We Are Poets

A Poem

By Colton

Hope is the place you want to go,

Hope is the person you want to know,

Hope is the feeling that carries you through,

And hope is the future for me and you.

The Elf in the Shelf

By Dan

The elf in the shelf,

flies in from up top,

hides in your kitchen,

or maybe your bedroom.

He outsmarts you all,

with his tricks and twists,

and what ever you do,

don’t touch his little toes.

Thanks for reading my holiday poem

comment if you want me to write another one.

My Holiday Poem!!

Christmas is the best.

OH look at that birds nest!!

I cant wait until Christmas and all it’s fests.

Anyone who doesn’t like Christmas is honestly a pest.

I hope you are the best.

And not a pest.

Oh my that bird just left its nest.

Poets corner – holiday special

❄️❄️❄️❄️❄️❄️❄️❄️❄️❄️❄️❄️

snow is falling

Stockings forestalling

the sight of the presents

Your eyes will be calling

look out the window

snow on the ground

But the best part of christmas

is the holiday song sound…

and the sight of the wreaths

so festive and round

See ya next week on poets corner

thanks for stopping by

and listening me pretend to be a poet

The Brave Whale

By Patrick

I am a whale! I’m really blue.

Swimming around is what I do!

Currents take me places to be.

New areas to go. New places to see!

I love exploring. It never ends.

It’s so fun I’d give it a 10!

Sometimes it looks like my ocean is fading.

Maybe it even needs some saving.

It makes fish like me turn sick.

It makes us throw up. Eww ick!

You know what! I’m through!

Saving the ocean is what I’m gonna do!

Some of Our Creative Music Posts from Week 5….

Our Week 4 Student Blogging Challenge

In honor of Week 4 and catching our breaths, we decided to host a session of Literary Yoga.   This activity matches yoga poses to literary elements so that we could add movement and promote critical thinking in our English class.  First, students practiced the poses, then they completed questions for their independent reading based on the yoga poses and answered them in a Google Form.  Here are some students to demonstrate the poses.  We had great fun. Enjoy!

Tree Pose:  Trees are resilient.  They can withstand winds, branches, droughts, and insects because they are so deeply rooted.

  • Think about which characters are resilient like a tree.  What is the main conflict one of the characters in your book is facing and how do they handle it?

Sun Salutation and Half Moon Pose:  Often in literature, darkness/light & day/night play a symbolic role in the interpreting the piece of writing.

  • Where in your book is the author trying to use day/night or lightness/darkness to represent a deeper meaning?

Warrior Pose:  This pose is meat to express strength, courage, and bravery against both internal and external conflicts.

  •  Is the main character in your book experiencing an internal or an external conflict?

Thinking Pose:  All good answers take time to ponder.

  • List a question or insight from your reading book.

Dancer Pose:  Dancing is a unique way of expressing mood.

  • What is the mood the author is trying to create in your book? How does the author create that mood?

Eagle Pose:  Eagles have a bird’s eye or third person point of view as they fly in the sky.

  • Is your book told from the first person, third person omniscient, or third person limited?

Triangle Pose:  Story lines usually follow a triangular pattern that involve rising action, high point, and falling action.

  • List the events from your book that make up the rising action, high point, and falling action.

Chair Pose:  The chair pose is meant to produce powerful leg muscles.

  • List a powerful quote from your book. What makes these words so powerful? What is the significance of the quote?

Circle Pose:  The circle movement you make with your arms represents how round characters become complex by taking action to undergo change.

  • Who is a round character in your book?
